Clinical supervision is a confidential and collaborative process that provides licensed professionals with guidance, support, learning, and reflection as they strengthen their clinical skills and work toward independent licensure. It can benefit both new and experienced clinicians by supporting professional growth, reducing the emotional strain of clinical work, and promoting the welfare of clients.
Dolores Ruiz-Chavez, LCSW, is approved to provide clinical supervision for:
LMSW to LCSW Supervision
The New Mexico Board of Social Work Examiners requires at least two years and 3,600 hours of postgraduate social work experience, completed within no more than 60 months. Supervision must be documented throughout the postgraduate experience in accordance with the board’s current requirements.
LMHC to LPCC Supervision
The New Mexico Counseling and Therapy Practice Board requires a minimum of two years of postgraduate professional clinical counseling experience, including 3,000 hours of postgraduate clinical client contact and 100 hours of appropriate face-to-face supervision.
Supervision may include case consultation, assessment and diagnosis, treatment planning, documentation, ethical decision-making, professional boundaries, trauma-informed care, and preparation for independent clinical practice.
Licensure and supervision requirements may change. LMSWs and LMHCs are encouraged to review the most current licensing rules, applications, and supervision requirements directly through the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department.
We welcome you to reach out with questions about therapy services, clinical supervision, or appointment availability. In-person sessions are available in Los Ranchos, along with statewide telehealth throughout New Mexico.
